Hamilton secures pole in China

Lewis Hamilton claimed pole position for Mercedes in qualifying for the Chinese Grand Prix. Hamilton's time of 1:34.484 was three tenths of a second clear of Lotus's Kimi Raikkonen. Fernando Alonso qualified third, ahead of Nico Rosberg and Felipe Massa. Romain Grosjean will start in sixth, with Toro Rosso's Daniel Ricciardo starring by qualifying in seventh. Jenson Button and Sebastian Vettel will start from eighth and ninth place. Both drivers opted to use the prime tyres in Q3, with Button completing a slow lap while Vettel ran wide and aborted his run. Nico Hulkenberg made it into the top ten but did not set a time.
