Webber elects to start race from pit lane

Mark Webber will start this afternoon's 56-lap Chinese Grand Prix from the pit lane, with Red Bull deciding to take his car out of parc ferme and make setup changes. Having been unable to supply the required one litre fuel sample after stopping out on-track in the second phase of qualifying, the Australian was sent to the back of the 22-strong grid by the race stewards, meaning he lost his original 14th place grid slot. In qualifying, Webber was 10 km/h (6.2 mph) slower than the Mercedes of Nico Rosberg, with Red Bull changing the gearbox in his RB9 and modifying the gear ratios.
