Race Report: Spanish Success For Alonso

Fernando Alonso thrilled his home crowd as he raced his Ferrari to his first Spanish Grand Prix victory as a Ferrari driver. Starting fifth on the grid, the double World Champion wrote his name in the record books as he became the first driver to win at the Barcelona circuit from outside the front two rows. Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton began first and second but even in the race's infancy began to drop while Alonso and Sebastian Vettel came to the fore. The duo were joined in their battle for the podium by Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen, however, even at the halfway stage it appeared to be Alonso's race.
