Mercedes on pole to win in Monaco, says Alonso

Mercedes could win the upcoming Monaco Grand Prix from pole position as the German manufacturer stands to gain a significant advantage on a track that doesn’t allow overtaking easily. Lewis Hamilton and teammate Nico Rosberg have claimed the last three pole positions this season and could be the pick again to claim the top spot in Monte Carlo later this month. “They will arrive as favourites for Monaco,” reckoned Fernando Alonso, who won the Spanish GP from fifth on the grid. “They’ve been on pole position for the last three races, they were on pole last year with Michael’s lap, so it would be a surprise if they weren’t on pole position in...
