Van der Garde: Caterham can do ‘something special'
Giedo van der Garde believes the Monaco Grand Prix will present a genuine opportunity for Caterham to score the team’s first Formula One points.
The Leafield-based outfit is yet to score a world championship point since entering the sport under the Lotus guise in 2010, but have finished in the financially rewarding tenth place in the constructors’ standings in all of its three full seasons of existence.
However, Van der Garde, who was promoted to a race seat in February, insists the time has arrived for Caterham to emerge from the mediocrity of the final two rows of the grid, and has targeted this weekend’s event, where the Dutchman holds a glorious success rate in junior formulae,...
