Pirelli: We also asked other teams to test

Sole Formula 1 tyre supplier Pirelli has explained to GPUpdate.net that Mercedes is not the first team with whom it has conducted a private test, reacting to the furore over a 1,000km outing it organised with the Silver Arrows ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix. Ahead of this afternoon's race in the principality, won by Mercedes' Nico Rosberg, the team came under scrutiny from rival outfits after details emerged that it had taken part in a Pirelli-organised test at the Circuit de Catalunya, soon after its cars fell down the order from the front row of the grid to sixth and 12th amid intense tyre degradation.
