Hamilton pins hopes on dry weather

Lewis Hamilton is pinning his hopes on the remainder of the Canadian Grand Prix weekend yielding dry weather, the Mercedes driver explaining that his team should be "really competitive" if conditions are similar to those experienced in second practice. After a low-key opening practice session at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, during which Hamilton had to settle for 16th position, the Briton improved to trail former team-mate and Ferrari rival Fernando Alonso by just 0.018 seconds in the afternoon outing.
