FIA set out their case

The FIA have insisted that Mercedes and Pirelli did not receive permission to run their 'private' tyre test, as the 'testgate' hearing commenced in Paris on Thursday morning.Both Mercedes and F1's sole tyre supplier have been summoned to appear before a specially-convened meeting of the International Tribunal following the revelation that they staged a three-day test following last month's Spanish GP at Barcelona. Opening the case on behalf of the sport's governing body, Mark Howard QC declared that the FIA had not authorised the test and the governing body only held 'informal' communications with Mercedes prior to the event.
