Merc: YDT exclusion would suffice

Mercedes believe should the FIA opt for an exclusion as their punishment, banning them from the YDT would level the playing field. Mercedes faced the FIA's International Tribunal in Paris on Thursday where the FIA insisted that at no time had they granted the team permission to use a 2013 car for their three-day Pirelli test. The F1, however, reckons they were given permission by FIA race director Charlie Whiting, who Ross Brawn said is the "go-to reference" in Formula One.
