Vettel holds off Raikkonen to win his first home race
Sebastian Vettel held off a charging Kimi Raikkonen to win his first race on home soil at the German Grand Prix and extend his championship lead. It was the Red Bull driver’s first victory in the month of July and the first win in Europe in 22 months. “That was a tough one,” Vettel said over the radio after he crossed the finish line. “They really gave us a run for the money.” Romain Grosjean clinched the final podium position from Fernando Alonso, who parked his Ferrari at the end of the straight after he finished the race.
