Russian GP misses 2014 application deadline

"true">Russian Grand Prix organisers have missed the deadline set by the FIA to apply to hold a Formula 1 race next season. Although construction work at the Sochi International Circuit is still in progress, according to private correspondence between the FIA and the Russian Automobile Federation, track authorities had until July 31 to submit a formal application to host a Grand Prix next year. In order for the race to now go ahead, they must prove that exceptional circumstances played a part in missing the deadline.
