Hamilton declares title hopes over
Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton says his 2013 championship hopes are over after a challenging Italian Grand Prix weekend yielded no more than a ninth place finish. After a shock elimination from the second qualifying phase on Saturday, leaving him 12th on the grid, Hamilton's struggles were compounded when he picked up a slow puncture early in the race, putting him out of sync with his rivals' strategies. Although he delivered a spirited fight back, Hamilton had to make do with just two points at the chequered flag, later describing a "disaster of a weekend" to reporters.
