Fernley: 2014 FP1 format good compromise

Bob Fernley has praised the decision to extend first practice on a Friday in 2014 as it gives the teams a variety of choices. As of next season, Friday's first practice will be extend from the current 90 minutes to a two hours with Pirelli giving the teams one additional set of tyres to use during the first 30 minutes. Teams will be permitted to run their test drivers throughout the entire session or even just those first 30. They can then swap their tester for their race driver for the remainder of practice.
