Webber beats Vettel to pole position in Japan

Red Bull/Getty Images Mark Webber secured his first pole position of the season after topping the times in qualifying for the Japanese Grand Prix. Webber's time of 1:30.915 was almost two tenths of a second faster than team-mate Sebastian Vettel. Vettel suffered from a KERS problem during Q3 and claimed his pace was ‘all he had.' It was the first time that Vettel has not claimed pole position at Suzuka. Lewis Hamilton will start from third, with Romain Grosjean in fourth. Felipe Massa – who claimed pole at Suzuka in 2006 – was fifth, ahead of Nico Rosberg and Nico Hulkenberg. Fernando Alonso qualified eighth, with Kimi Raikkonen and Jenson Button rounding out the Q3...
