Pirelli expects two to three pit-stops

Formula 1 tyre supplier Pirelli is expecting Sunday's Indian Grand Prix to feature two to three pit-stops per driver, with the former plan theoretically the quickest approach. Tyres have been the main talking point of the weekend so far, with the performance gap between the Soft and Medium compounds averaging a second. However, the softer rubber has displayed heavy blistering and degradation throughout practice. In the final qualifying phase on Saturday afternoon, some teams chose to split their strategies between the two types of tyre, with six drivers – including the top three – using the Soft tyres and the remainder setting their times on the Medium rubber.
