Boullier surprised by Renault's problems 1 March, 2014 Eric Boullier Newly instated McLaren Racing Director Eric Boullier admits he is surprised that Renault have struggled so much in the early stages of the new Formula 1 turbo era, considering they were big advocates of the switch to the new power units. However the preseason has been something of a nightmare for the French manufacturer and the teams they supply, with the power units causing a myriad of problems – the introduction of the technology appearing to catch Renault with much homework yet to be done.
