McLaren factory proving its worth
The McLaren factory has produced the downforce improvements the Formula One team requires to move up the grid, it revealed on Tuesday.
After a disappointing Chinese Grand Prix, where McLaren drivers Jenson Button and Kevin Magnussen were well off the pace and finished outside the points scoring positions, it has become clear that the MP4-29 in its current guise didn't have the downforce to compete at the front of the grid consistently.
On Tuesday, however, McLaren Racing Director Eric Boullier revealed that the factory has made significant progress with upgrades in recent weeks, although it may take a few races for all the parts to be manufactured and delivered.
