Hamilton edges out Rosberg for pole
Lewis Hamilton claimed his fourth pole position of the season in a close scrap with Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg at the Spanish Grand Prix.
Hamilton edged out Rosberg by 0.168s to take his first pole at the track, with Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo over a second further back in third.
Valtteri Bottas took a commendable fourth place, while Romain Grosjean excelled in Q3 by qualifying in fifth position.
Ferrari had a more difficult day as Kimi Räikkönen and home favourite Fernando Alonso could manage only sixth and seventh.
Jenson Button was eighth for McLaren, while Felipe Massa was unable to match his Williams team-mate and will start from ninth.
