Smedley pleased with ‘fantastic reaction’ at Williams

Rob Smedley says there has been “a fantastic reaction” from Williams to his plans for car development this season. Having joined the team as head of vehicle performance, Smedley revealed that one of the first things he did was focus on key updates specific to each circuit. Having admitted that Williams underperformed at times during the Monaco Grand Prix weekend, he said that there were new parts coming which should solve the front tyre warm-up issues that affected both drivers. “We could have worked better with what we have already,” Smedley said. “There are updates that are coming which will definitely help that and we kind of recognised that before.
