Bottas becomes seventh Finn to stand on F1 podium

Valtteri Bottas continued Finland’s strong presence in Formula One after the Williams driver secured the first podium of his career at the Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday. Of the eight Finns who raced in F1, Bottas is now the seventh to finish in the top three. His third place at the Red Bull Ring was Williams’ first podium of the season and the second in three years. Bottas started the race from second place, behind pole-sitter and teammate Felipe Massa, but managed to cling on to the place after the first round of pit stops while the Brazilian fell back.
