Villeneuve: Verstappen deal undermines Formula 1

+ Former Formula 1 world champion Jacques Villeneuve has criticised Toro Rosso’s decision to sign 16-year-old Formula 3 racer Max Verstappen for 2015. Villeneuve, champion with Williams in 1997, says that Toro Rosso’s decision to replace Jean-Eric Vergne with Verstappen for next season, making the Dutchman the youngest racer in the history of the sport at just 17-years-old when he makes his expected debut, undermines the credibility of Formula 1. “It is the worst thing ever for Formula One because it will have two effects,” Villeneuve told AUTOSPORT. “It will either destroy him [Verstappen] or, even if he is successful right away, then F1 will be meaningless. “What will F1 be?...
