McLaren confirms Whitmarsh departure

McLaren has confirmed that Martin Whitmarsh has officially left the company. Whitmarsh's role as team principal became redundant when Ron Dennis regained control of the team and installed Eric Boullier as racing director. Although Whitmarsh was no longer involved with the F1 team he still remained a McLaren employee while the two parties tried to reach an agreement over his future. Following the mid-season break McLaren has now confirmed that Whitmarsh has officially left after 24 years working for the team. "McLaren and Martin Whitmarsh have agreed amicably to part company," a McLaren spokesman said.
