Singapore marks four years since Ferrari's last dry pole
Ferrari’s promising pace in practice failed to convert in qualifying for the Singapore Grand Prix on Saturday with its drivers settling for yet another mediocre result. Fernando Alonso topped two practice sessions, including the final one ahead of qualifying, for the first time this season suggesting that the Italian team could produce its most competitive weekend in 2014. But that hope evaporated after Alonso could do no better than fifth, behind the Mercedes and Red Bull drivers, while Kimi Raikkonen qualified seventh after he had engine trouble on the final flying lap forcing him to park the car out on the circuit.
