Typhoon Phanofone threatens Japanese Grand Prix
+ This weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka could be under threat from the oncoming Typhoon Phanfone.
The typhoon, which has been building over the Pacific Ocean in recent days, is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds as it edges closer to Suzuka, with it potentially hitting the circuit on Sunday, leading to fears that the race could be delayed or even cancelled.
While the FIA has no contingency plan in place as yet should the event be disrupted by extreme weather, it could bring the race forward.
“Present indications are that Typhoon Phanfone will be centred to the southeast of Japan on Sunday but with bands of rain on the northern flank running well ahead of the centre,”...
