Sochi Qualifying: Hamilton delivers Olympian performance
Lewis Hamilton will start the inaugural Russian GP from pole position
From the moment Lewis Hamilton took to the Sochi Autodrom you knew he was going to be the man to beat around the Olympic Park based circuit, and in qualifying he delivered a mega-lap to claim pole position for the inaugural Russian Grand Prix.
The Briton seems to have found another level in his quest for a second Formula 1 world championship crown, as he clearly has the upper hand over title rival and Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg who was second fastest, albeit 0.200 of a second down on the top time – an age in F1 terms.
Hamilton's best time of 1:38.513 was set on his second run. Rosberg attacked but did not...
