Alonso: Ferrari not quick enough compared to F1 rivals
Fernando Alonso says Ferrari will need to “try and improve” for the inaugural Russian Grand Prix on Sunday after he could only qualify in eighth place. Alonso felt his Ferrari F14 T was “good” during final practice and qualifying. However, in the top-ten shootout his best effort was a 1 minute 39.709 seconds, leaving him over a second off the Mercedes' at the front and over half a second off Jenson Button's McLaren in P4. “It was a strange qualifying and a strange day,” said Alonso, who will actually start in seventh after Kevin Magnussen takes his five-place grid penalty. “The car felt good and it felt well set-up.
