Administrator: Caterham almost raced in Austin
– The administrator attempting to save the Caterham Formula 1 team says the outfit came close to racing at this weekend's United States Grand Prix.Caterham was handed over to Smith & Williamson last Friday, following a public quarrel between Tony Fernandes and Engavest regarding the sale of the outfit.According to Finbarr O'Connell, a partner at the accountancy firm, one of the bidders offered to cover the cost of competing, but there was not enough time to see the plan through."In fact, Caterham F1 was almost going to race," O'Connell is quoted as saying by Autoweek."One of the parties interested in buying the team offered to cover the costs but, unfortunately, having...
