Alonso: Small teams need to exist
Fernando Alonso has urged F1 to find a way to ensure the survival of the small teams as he reckons that would be better than three-car teams.
With the demise of Marussia and Caterham's future still on the line, Formula 1 has spent the last two grands prix with just 18 cars on the grid.
And although Caterham are expected to return for the season finale in Abu Dhabi, how many teams will still be around next season - or the following - is anyone's guess.
There are fears that more teams could fall by the wayside unless something is done.
A cost cap is one solution while giving the smaller teams more of the money F1 generates is another.
