Details of new superlicence points system released

Sutton Images Enlarge The details of the FIA's new Formula One superlicence points system have been released by the governing body. From 2016, drivers must have scored 40 points in a three year period under the new system to qualify for the opportunity to apply for a superlicence to race in F1. Points are awarded for finishing in top ten positions in certain championships outside F1 (see table below), including a "future FIA F2 championship", which is not yet up and running. The F2 championship will award the most points, with a top three finish enough to gain the necessary 40 points for a superlicence. A top two finish in GP2 will also award enough points as well as victories...
