GP2 Champion Palmer becomes Lotus reserve
Lotus F1 Team
Reigning GP2 Champion Jolyon Palmer has joined Lotus as the team's reserve driver for the upcoming campaign.
Palmer raced in Formula 1's feeder series for four years and won the title last year, before receiving a test at the end of the year with Force India.
Palmer will also get a 'significant number' of free practice outings with the team.
"I'm delighted to be moving into F1 with Lotus this year as Third Driver and I'm very grateful for the opportunity they have given me," he said.
"My goal has been to become a race driver in a competitive F1 team for 2016 and Lotus is a great opportunity for me, particularly with Mercedes engines now.
