Lotus E23 hits the track at Jerez
+ The Lotus E23 ran for the first time on Monday at the Jerez circuit after the team missed the opening day of pre-season testing.
The team had expected to launch its car on Sunday morning ahead of the opening test, but the transit of the team’s E23 was delayed, and it only arrived in Jerez on Sunday evening.
The Enstone-based team cautiously predicted that the car build would go on well into Monday, and that it would have to wait until Tuesday before it could complete any serious running.
However, after an overnight build the car was finished ahead of schedule, with Pastor Maldonado taking the E23 out on track for an installation lap an hour into Monday’s running.
