Maldonado: New Lotus E23 full of potential
+ Pastor Maldonado says Lotus’ E23 has plenty of potential after driving the car for the first time at Jerez on Monday.
Lotus missed the opening day of testing after the transit of the team’s 2015 car was delayed, with the E23 only arriving in Jerez on Sunday evening.
Maldonado completed 41 laps on his way to sixth fastest on Monday, after the team worked through the night to complete the car.
“It was fantastic to get behind the wheel for the first ever lap of this exciting new car,” he said.
“Even though it’s early days we achieved a lot today. It was already exciting to feel the potential of the car and I can’t wait to get back in the car tomorrow.
