Qatar inches closer to Formula 1 race
– Qatar has claimed that it is on the brink of signing a deal which would enable it to host a Formula 1 race within the next two years.The small Gulf nation has been attempting to join the Formula 1 calendar though doubts were raised when it emerged that Bernie Ecclestone gave organisers of the Bahrain Grand Prix a veto over other races in the area a decade ago.However, Nasser bin Khalifa al-Attiyah - head of Qatar's Motorsport Federation and Vice President of the FIA - says that Qatar is close to clinching a deal which would see Formula 1 race in the country from either 2016 or 2017."We are about to sign contracts to organise a Formula 1 race," he told AFP."We have...
