Alonso to race in Malaysia, subject to final medical test

Alastair Staley/LAT Photographic/McLaren McLaren has confirmed that Fernando Alonso will head to Malaysia this week to prepare for the Grand Prix and will race 'subject to a successful final FIA medical assessment this Thursday' after missing the Formula One season opener following a crash in testing. McLaren says the two-time world champion has followed a 'rigorous, specialised training program' since last month's accident. The team further revealed that Alonso 'spent time with senior engineers, discussing the accident and reviewing the comprehensive data and analysis, all of which has been shared with the FIA.'
