Kvyat blames energy issues for Q1 flop

Daniil Kvyat says 'energy issues' were to blame for him failing to make it out of Q1 for the Bahrain Grand Prix, the first time a Red Bull car has failed to progress beyond the first knockout phase since 2012. Kvyat, who missed most of FP3 after spinning out, was on the back foot again in qualifying as he struggled to get up to speed in the Red Bull, the Russian being dumped out at the first time of asking to leave him 17th on the grid. Penalties excused, it is the first time a Red Bull has failed to make it out of Q1 since Mark Webber qualified 19th for the 2012 European Grand Prix having suffered DRS problems.
