Alonso: Q3 target too optimistic

Fernando Alonso admits it is perhaps too optimistic to be targeting a top ten starting position in qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix, despite a positive start to the weekend. Having predicted something of a struggle around the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve given its high-speed characteristics, Alonso was nonetheless up in ninth position after FP1, with the Spaniard praising the balance and power delivery of the MP4-30 However, the former champion played down the lofty position, suggesting McLaren doesn't have the 'qualifying' mode with its power unit that he believes will allow rivals to surpass it. With this in mind, he believes row six and seven is a more realistic target on Saturday....
