Vettel sets pace before gearbox problem
Scuderia Ferrari Sebastian Vettel set the quickest lap on the Option tyres during second practice at the Red Bull Ring, before his session was interrupted by gearbox problems. Vettel posted a time of 1:09.600 to edge out Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg by just 0.011s, but he was forced to return to the Ferrari garage with 25 minutes of the session remaining due to gearbox issues. Vettel did not return to the circuit for the remainder of the session, thus missing out on long run data. Ferrari team-mate Kimi Räikkönen was third, while fourth position went to Lotus’ Pastor Maldonado, who had two moments towards the end of the session.
