WMSC ratifies engine-related changes

– The World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) has ratified the engine-related regulation changes recently proposed by the F1 Strategy Group and approved by the F1 Commission.The Strategy Group last week announced that the power unit penalty system would be overhauled, following a string of severe grid drops for taking on new engine elements.In addition, it stated that new engine manufacturers would receive an extra unit per driver for their first season, a measure that will apply retroactively to McLaren supplier Honda.Both engine proposals were submitted to the F1 Commission via an express fax vote, and the WMSC formally approved the changes at this week's meeting in Mexico City.The FIA...
