Hamilton romps to pole in Hungary

Mercedes AMG Petronas World Champion Lewis Hamilton secured his ninth pole position of the season as he cruised to pole position at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Hamilton posted a lap good enough for provisional pole during the first runs in Q3 and Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg was unable to eclipse Hamilton on his second run. Hamilton, running behind Rosberg on-track, went even faster and clocked a 1:22.020 to end the session half a second quicker than his title rival. Sebastian Vettel beat former team-mate Daniel Ricciardo to third place by mere hundredths of a second to set up a battle for the podium places on Sunday.
