Renault postpones new engine to Austin
Renault has told Red Bull and Toro Rosso that its upgraded power unit will not be available before the United States GP, and there is a possibility that the teams will decide not to use it. The French manufacturer had previously postponed the debut of the 'D-spec' until Russia. While it will in theory be physically ready by then, it has yet to be fully proven on the dyno, and Renault does not want to risk failures. "We will have some units that will be ready for race 15 [Sochi], but the fact is that we haven't got the full validation yet," Renault's Remi Taffin told Motorsport.com.
