Ericsson penalised for impeding Hulkenberg

Marcus Ericsson has been handed a grid penalty following an incident during qualifying. The Swede was adjudged to have impeded Nico Hulkenberg in the Parabolica (Turn 11) in Q1, the Sauber driver weaving in an effort to generate heat in his tyres whilst the Force India driver was on his first flying lap. Having found Ericsson had breached Article 16.1 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations, the driver was demoted three grid positions and also given 2 penalty points, bringing his total for the 12 month period up to 7. Ericsson eventually qualified 10th, one place behind Hulkenberg.
