Helmet Marko hoping to defeat Mercedes with “unpleasant” alternative

Mercedes' senior management last weekend decided that they no longer wished to pursue an arrangement that would have involved the provision of power units to Championship rivals Red Bull Racing, which is widely believed to be readying a parting of ways with current supplier Renault. Although Red Bull is frustrated that its bid to secure F1's benchmark power unit did not come to fruition, Marko believes that it just means the German manufacturer will face greater pain in the event of Red Bull beating them with an alternative package.
