Singapore Grand Prix could be hampered by smog
A dense cloud of haze has been present over Singapore for the past week, a result of farmers in neighbouring Sumatra burning forests to clear their land for agriculture. A yearly event, the smog is currently rated under the Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) as being in the mid to low range of 'unhealthy' air quality, but race organisers are monitoring the situation in case it worsens and affects driver visibility. The PSI had risen to 222 in the early hours of Monday, the highest level in a year and above the official 'very unhealthy' bandwidth of 200, according to the National Environment Agency (NEA).
