Singapore monitoring haze levels ahead of race

Lotus F1 Team. File Photo. Organisers of the Singapore Grand Prix say they are monitoring the haze situation ahead of this weekend's event, though have no plans to amend the schedule. Farmers in nearby Indonesia have been burning forests to create land for agricultural purposes and this has led to a cloud of smog over the region. On Tuesday, the Pollutant Standards Index [PSI] was registered as 130-161, officially classified as 'unhealthy'. "Based on the current PSI levels, there are no plans to amend the published racing and entertainment programme," read a statement from race organisers.
