Alonso hails best-ever lap at Suzuka
– Fernando Alonso reckons he delivered his best-ever lap at Suzuka during Saturday's qualifying session for the Japanese Grand Prix.Both McLaren-Honda drivers were eliminated in the early stages of qualifying, with the renewed partnership continuing to struggle.After team-mate Button dropped out in Q1, Alonso went on to qualify in 14th position, just over two tenths off the Q3 cut-off point."That was probably the best lap of my career around Suzuka," said Alonso."I could have fitted 100 more sets of tyres to the car, and I probably still wouldn't have bettered that lap."It's frustrating to end up 14th, but that's the situation at the moment.
