Sainz cleared to race pending checks

Stewards have given Carlos Sainz the all-clear to compete in the Russian Grand Prix pending a final medical check, following his accident in third free practice. The Spaniard lost control of his Toro Rosso in the braking zone for turn 13 and crashed at high-speed nose first into the barrier. With the car going beneath the 'flexible' TecPro barriers and spearing the Armco on the other side, it took marshals 20mins to extricate Sainz from his car.
