Romain Grosjean: “We knew the top ten was achievable”
Romain Grosjean was happy with qualifying inside the top ten despite very limited running during practice at the Sochi Autodrom, ending up in eighth position on the grid. The Lotus F1 Team driver did not venture onto the circuit in either of the first two practice sessions on Friday, with Jolyon Palmer running in FP1 and rain affecting FP2, while the Frenchman only completed fourteen laps during FP3 before Carlos Sainz Jr suffered his session-ending crash. Despite this, he was still able to make it through into the top-ten shootout, and hopes for a good result in the race on Sunday. “It was a pretty good qualifying session for us,” said Grosjean. “We knew the top ten was achievable...
