Sainz in race against time after qualifying shunt

Carlos Sainz says his Toro Rosso team is in a race against time to repair his STR10 machine after suffering a heavy shunt in an aquaplane off in the opening phase of qualifying. The Spaniard was powerless to stop his car spinning and careering into the inside barriers at turn three in the soaking wet conditions after skidding off the circuit in Q1, causing a brief red-flag suspension to qualifying. The off ruled him out of returning to the action and left him anchored at the bottom of the timesheet which means he will start 20th and last on the grid for the United States Grand Prix.
