Fernando Alonso's race undone by injector issue

United States Grand Prix – Fernando Alonso's strong race in the US fell apart in the closing stages due to a mechanical issue.The Spanish racer started the race from P9, but his race looked to be a disaster almost immediately. A collision between himself and Felipe Massa at the apex of Turn 1 left Alonso facing the wrong way and in need of repairs. He pitted at the end of the first lap and found himself at the very back after this. However, he made good use of his usual racing nous to capitalise on the various Safety Car periods to be running in P6 towards the end of the race.
