New McLaren passes mandatory F1 crash tests

McLaren has become the latest Formula 1 team to get its 2016 car homologated after passing all the mandatory crash tests. The new Honda-powered MP4-31 is now ready to hit the track. The new car will be officially launched online on February 21, the day before the start of pre-season testing at Barcelona. McLaren's new car will be raced by Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button again, and the team will be hoping it lifts its fortunes following a dismal 2015 season, where it finished in ninth place in the standings. The team is hopeful that tweaks being planned to the Honda engine will deliver a decent step forward in performance compared to last year.
